About

More than I hate talking about myself, I hate writing about myself, but I guess I can mention a few things like I write fantasy (dark, heroic, sword and sorcery, historical, horror), I’m crazy about vampires, have a growing collection of vampire movies, own 5 seasons of True Blood, all of Buffy, all of Angel, all of Blood Ties, the Twilight movies (I don’t care that they glitter!), 30 Days of Night is my favorite vampire movie, not fond of zombies, read lots of books, like cats (though I wouldn’t mind owning a dog one day), live in a city by the Pacific Ocean in a state where there’s lots of sunshine and no snow! I’m writing a fantasy novel, A Lamentation of Swans, that I hope will win me lots of readers! I should stop now.

  1. I had to leave right before the ending of 30 Day of Night (didn’t get to see the good guys win) on Halloween my junior year of high school. Was the scariest drive home of my life.

    I like your blog!

    • Thanks, Dara! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched 30 Days of Night. One of my favorite things about that movie is the vampires have a language, and they are well-realized. d:)

  2. Thank you for mentioning my article in The Writer on deep maps some time ago on your blog. I have subsequently published some more research on this, and the subject of deep maps , how to make them, and how to use them for writing practice is addressed in my upcoming book, The Soul of Place, A Creative Writing Workbook. Ideas and Exercises for Conjuring the Genius Loci, coming out from the publisher Travelers Tales (CA) in May 2015

  3. Must be serendipity. Earlier today, I found a new writer to follow over a mention of A Murmuration of Starlings, and now you, and A Lamentation of Starlings. A fine day of discovery! 🙂
