brown study

The Mermaid (Study), John William Waterhouse

I’m signed up at NaNoEdMo, 50 hours editing on The Foreigner by March 31st. So I began yesterday, diving into the chilly waters of exposition, uncertain dialogue, lackluster action–the manuscript is so vague and incoherent–only a manuscript can be simultaneously vague and incoherent–that I’m in a brown study over what to do.

  1. I highly recommend you get a copy of Elizabeth Lyon’s “Manuscript Makeover”. It is full of excellent, helpful hints to help you revise and edit.
