cold snap

Landscape with Sunlit Stream, Charles Frances Daubigny

Cold this morning, the air frigid, the wind razor-edged, winter reasserting its grip on us. Did a little over 400 words on a new scene for The Foreigner. Even as I wrote the words, I picked at them, but I’m only drafting, sketching the scene “in pencil”, giving the scene form for moulding and shaping. This scene introduces Fanh-Daole. It must be short and tight. It needs to have some tension however.

I’ve decided to cut down to one cup of coffee a day, no milk, and only a teaspoon of sugar. Let’s see how long I last before I start pulling out my eyelashes.
