At Capri, John William Waterhouse
The manuscript is a jumble of scenes at the moment, having the barest shape of story. I’ve got so many decisions to make, particularly about the “when” of events. Driving in this morning, I told myself not to worry too much about the mess–let the manuscript be messy. I’ve compiled a small stack of index cards listing the scenes, and I’ve removed the chapter numbering while I think through the action. One thing for sure, I like the writing so far, and the characters are not giving me much trouble.
