quit with the thinking, the brain said

Merlin, Aubrey Beardsley

So the brain yelled at me this morning. Get back to the writing already! Enough with the thinking! The thinking is fine; the writing’s how you get the book! So write already!

Sheesh!

So, okay. I drove in early, got my no foam, whole milk, almond latte, sat down outside the Starbucks in the sunshine, and did a quick review of what to do with Sweet Taboo.

Sweet Taboo has three acts. Act I introduces the characters, the setting, the problem, and ends with Randall’s death.

Act II brings Randall back to Deidre, a revenant in need of sustenance and desiring vengeance. The main action is his return and his haunting of Kenny in revenge. And his and Deidre’s post-death relationship. Act II needs a climax.

Act III. I’ve no idea except it must flow from Act II, and I’ve got the ending in hand, just need the stuff that’ll get me there.

My theme occurred to me as I scribbled the last of the thinking: Life is uncertain and you must give it the best meaning you can.

The brain is giggling in anticipation.
